The defense maintains Zimmerman was confronted by Trayvon Martin after he stopped following him and went to meet with the police.
Here are two maps with articles detailing Martin coming back to look at Zimmerman.
The prosecution maintains that Zimmerman confronted Martin. They have less evidence than the defense has (which wasn’t much) so the police, the state attorney and a jury didn’t buy that story.
The most incorrect argument out there is that Zimmerman did not comply with the dispatcher:
Zimmerman followed Martin, eventually losing sight of him. The dispatcher asked Zimmerman if he was following him. When Zimmerman answered, “yeah”, the dispatcher said, “We don’t need you to do that.” Zimmerman responded, “Okay.” Zimmerman asked that police call him upon their arrival so he could provide his location. Zimmerman ended the call at 7:15 p.m
According to both of the maps linked above, Zimmerman was walking back to his truck and Martin would have had to move back north for Zimmerman to notice him. Zimmerman did not pursue Martin after the dispatcher asked him to stop.
People claimed if the roles were reversed, the outcome would have been different. Not so, it already happened.
The claims Trayvon Martin was profiled are ridiculous. Trayvon acted like Trayvon, a trouble maker, so he caught someone’s attention. The judge had to protect the unruly behavior of Trayvon so that the defense team did not use it to show the jury what the kid was like before he was shot.
He was suspended for truancy.
He was suspended for graffiti, when he was observed by a security camera in a restricted area of the school marking up a door with “W.T.F.” When he was later searched by a police officer, looking for the graffiti marker, the officer found several pieces of women’s jewelry in his backpack, which Martin said a friend had given to him. A screwdriver was also found, which was described by the school police investigator as a burglary tool. The jewelry was impounded and given to the police, but no evidence ever surfaced to indicate that the jewelry was stolen.
He was suspended for having a marijuana pipe and an empty bag containing marijuana residue. Judge Nelson ruled that the defense may have access to Martin’s records, including the details of these suspensions, as well as access to Martin’s social media sites, but ruled they will not be admissible as evidence during the trial unless they can be shown to be relevant.
He also had pictures of a kid holding a handgun on his cellphone, along with pictures of weed. (Nobody will address this)
If George Zimmerman did profile Trayvon Martin, he got it right.
