Dude, I live in china, been here for like 8 months now teaching English. China does suck. I had a mohawk last halloween and the students loved it, but the school freaked out. Then I taught about “think for yourself” and “question authority” like what Timothy Leary said; then I had to have a meeting with the “head master”. I used to teach in Korea, and Koreans are way better (in my opinion). Japan was better than Korea. Mongolia was just dangerous. Chinese college kids are like children. They get scared easily. The average American worker can do the work of 3.5 Chinese chimps. Example, today some workers were repairing a street light on the main road in my city. It took five workers to replace the bulb. One man to change the bulb and other four workers to stand around smoking cigs and commenting on the quality of his work. I like that, teamwork. The great commie collective. I must admit, the migrant workers have a difficult life. Their wages are low and the nature of their is not enviable but that is their own fault. Chinese look at the life of western workers and think it’s too good. So, they call them lazy but that was not always the case. American or western workers had to stand up for their rights and fight for a better life. Chinese on the other hand are like sheep. They will never take a stand because they lack the testicular fortitude to do so. They will always be slaves and lackeys, it’s part of their culture and history.
China is developing only because of foreign currency and an influx of western ideas and technology and the sheer number of people (i.e. cheap labor). It is obvious it’s not because the people are smart or motivated, it’s only the numbers. It is obvious to me that most of people commenting have never lived in China. Most Chinese wonder why I would live there if I had a choice. Most people want to leave this toilet.
1. China is not communist. It currently has a controlled market economy. The government does nothing for the people but steal from the coffers.
2. China has about three important inventions in 5000 years. Check wiki for American inventions and how old is America, do the math…
3. America’s debt is the fault of corporate America and asshole free-trade clowns like Bush and his party.
4. China is corrupt from the top to the bottom. In order get a business liscense or start a company you have pay-off the government goons. Come here and ask around patna…You need guanxi not brains.
5. Work hard. Haaaaa, obviously you have never been to the mainland. See for yourself. Again, American workers can do the work of 3.5 lazy mainlanders. That is a fact. My company arrived at that number through management science…
6. Educated population, to what degree???? Check the source of your information. The education system in China is in shambles. Government school students only learn knowledge for the national examination and then they stop. The methods are outdated and the students have large gaps in the knowledge pertaining to their subjects. Ask some Chinese parents about the education system in china and you will get the real low-down. Then, there are the universities and colleges. What a joke. The information they learn is usually ten years behind the western world and if you are substandard student, you can just buy your diploma. Come here and check it out for yourself…
7. Hospitals are cheap but the quality of the care is low. I saw an old man dying at the front of the E.R. drop-off area outside while the staff went through his pockets for money first before treatment. Medicine is cheap but you never know what is in those pills you are taking. Please come and feel free to get cheap healthcare from hacks and quacks.

As western manufacturing industries move to China, one after the other, and services are being outsourced due to “cheap labour” or ” highly competitive wages”, what is left back home is jobless people who eventually get to bankruptcy. That’s economic annihilation, if you ask me.
How can other countries compete with this? How can other countries compete with a regime which offers “cheap labour” via terrorizing its citizens?
That’s easy, they can’t if they are not totalitarian, as their “competitors”…

However, it requires two to “tango”. What this means is that western corporations which operate in a liberal, democratic, free market environment, should have no business interacting whatsoever with such totalitarian regimes and this should be formally enforced in all countries who embrace the free market and democracy. By attempting to do business with a totalitarian entity, you no longer embrace these values…
So, it all gets down to this:
-Why do western corporations have any kind of business interaction with totalitarian regimes?
Maybe it’s because these corporations only care about the maximization of their profits and the minimization of their costs and not about the prosperity of the society which has nurtured them. In plain words, because they are little greedy bastards, IMO…

i am american and my wife is chinese. china sucks and usa does too. they both are good also. china internet is horrible. there is no way the university system will ever be decent with no internet access for students. it is impossible to learn without resources. i met a girl who thought the russians landed on the moon. she had a college degree. nothing works on the internet. you can browse baidu which is the worse site ever. people in china think it is clever to rip people off. they have no idea that it will destroy their business later. the sheer ignorance of people with regard to the economy, real estate, and the world is astounding. china has a literacy rate around 30%. i have never seen a people so willing to enslave their own in my entire life, including africa. now, with that being said i will admit the usa has equally lame policies. freedom of speech is dead in the usa. if you say anything about blacks or women, you are racist or sexist. everyone has to pretend to be politically correct even though no one thinks this way. unions have ruined many industries in the usa. wall street has fleeced the common man then they get bailed out by the govt. the tax system is out of control. force desegregation has resulted in the “white flight” which has polarized the country more than ever.
