When Mickey Mouse shows up to vote for the first time, has to show ID because none was provided to the Board of Elections, and is turned away…you’ll report on that, right? :)

This ACORN vote stuff is a non-issue. State law in most states doesn’t allow them to destroy the registrations even if they are obviously fraudulent, and they run a HUGE operation. I am sure that at some point someone has gotten through the cracks on this stuff. But do you remember the US attorney firings, and Alberto “I don’t recall” Gonzales? A primary reason why so many of those attorneys were let go was because of political pressure to find and prosecute voter fraud by groups like ACORN. They were unable to do so because if fraud does manage to make it through, it seems to be a vanishigly small percentage.

Want to have a talk about what can ruin elections? Let’s talk about electronic voting machines. In their wildest dreams ACORN could never match the change to election results Diebold has. In some counties/districts the invalidated ballots and misattributed votes were as high as 9% in 2006.

I can hear it now an evil rightwing empire spouting “All your votes are belong to us”

I guess if Obama and his cronies at Acorn can’t do it with a pencil and paper it’s up to left to accuse the right of controlling the computers used.

As far as your story goes with the firings, what about when Clinton did it? No big news stories there, no conspiracy theories about how the left was out to ruin the right.

Why is it every time someone on the left gets caught they whine and cry about smear tactics or some other crap.
But when the left attacks the right it’s because they’re just looking for the truth or some other bogus self righteous, robin hood, holier than thou story.

I didn’t say the right. I said electronic voting machines. That’s so funny…you automatically think my counter had a partisan slant just because your war on ACORN does. Electronic voting machines can be abused, and have been, by both sides. Diebold has been in bed with all parties. So no, I didn’t accuse the right of anything. Keep on jumping at those shadows.

And no, Clinton did not purge the attorneys in the same way at all. They are not meant to be political positions. This is standard “but Clinton did it, wahh” behavior for you neo-cons. Even if he DID do it, then it would have been wrong then, just as wrong as it is NOW. We liberals are consistent in our application of justice in this respect. Wroong is wrong, regardless of party. Stop trying to excuse your side by pointing at the other.

“This is standard “but Clinton did it, wahh” behavior for you neo-cons.”

No, it’s standard Democrats have different ethics for their partisans behavior.

Where is the big sex scandal for the congressman from West Palm Beach? Foley just had “text” with an intern, he lost his job. There was another guy on the Dem side…

Now the lib rat Dem is giving our tax dollars to a mistress and yet there is no Democrat outcry about the culture of corruption.

ACORN is defrauding the electoral process, and you libs thinks it’s okay. You think it is just fine to give the more work to our gov employees, just for the chance to squeak in a few more votes. I mean, I undestand that ACORN’s days of sub-prime huslting are over, but you’d think they would be more creative than standard liberal fraud.

“Let’s talk about electronic voting machines. In their wildest dreams ACORN could never match the change to election results Diebold has.”

No lets’s not. If you Google Diebold, it is the territory of leftist moonbattery. Everyone knows what you were getting at.

Got a serious comment. There is a difference between voter fraud and voter registration fraud. I, like everyone, am against voter fraud. As for the registration fraud, yes it does exist. ACORN like every other group are required to turn in all forms, suspicious or not. It’s in ACORN’s best interest NOT to have people making things up (bad for business, I’m sure you understand that). So what motivation do they have for knowingly engaging in registration fraud. ACORN has no motivation, however, individual “bad apples” have a monitary motivation. If we are excusing “bad apples” for yelling out “kill him”, “terrorist”, and the like, I think we can do the same for the individual screw-ups at ACORN. I mean, do you think there would be enough people to actually vote multiple times to really make any difference? No of course not. Imagine sending multiple voter cards in different names to the same address…then having to produce I.D. for all of these different aliases. It’s not practicle. If you can show me a scenario where it could affect the outcome of an election, tell me. I’m open to changing to your point of view. I don’t have any allegiance to ACORN.

About the voter machines. Can you say with 100%…no let’s be fair 95% certainty that they’ve recorded your vote correctly, when you don’t get a receipt? No, you can’t. Do I think there’s some sort of conspiracy. No, I don’t. But the reluctance to give a receipt fans the flames of conspiracy. Why not just shut the doubters up and hand over a receipt? You get one for everything else. And it’s a good back-up plan.

Why the reluctance? It doesn’t make sense to me, and it only hurts Diebold and the Republican party. I say give a receipt, it’s not that hard, then all of this nonsense can go away. Surely you can agree with me on that Rude.

Nah, I liked it old school.

One day, wait at the polls, punch a real card.

    Eliminates much of this crap.

I suggest that the only people who can receive absentee ballots are those in the military, and those who can produce a notarized document stating that they will be out of their district on voting day.

I’m with rude on this one. I also preferred the old way.

Who knows, with the direction we’re heading in, my son might have to provide a DNA sample when he’s old enough to vote.

  8. DMG

I liked it old school too. And actually we all agree. But you know technology is advancing, and there shouldn’t be a reason we can’t vote electronically. A receipt isn’t that hard. The only thing about the punch cards Rude is the “hanging chads”. I’m voting absentee this year.

Good to see a little love in the comments. :)

So we can all agree the current iteration of electronic voting machines sucks. Ever heard of the Open Voting Consortium? It’s an attempt to apply Open Source ideals to a new generation of electronic voting machines. No trade secrets…the method is totally open, and should lead to a secure system (much like the Apache web server is Open Source but is the most secure on the Internet).

Google them and read up on it…what do you guys think?
