Every piece of Obama advertising you see today, is funded by this man’s original fraud; funded by his broken pledge.
Below, is where Barack Obama promised last November to use public financing. He will promise you anything, because he knows you will accept his commands without question when he changes his mind.
If you are nominated for President in 2008 and your major opponents agree to forgo private funding in the general election campaign, will you participate in the presidential public financing system?
Yes. I have been a long-time advocate for public financing of campaigns combined with free television and radio time as a way to reduce the influence of moneyed special interests. I introduced public financing legislation in the Illinois State Senate, and am the only 2008 candidate to have sponsored Senator Russ Feingold’s (DWI) bill to reform the presidential public financing system. In February 2007, I proposed a novel way to preserve the strength of the public financing system in the 2008 election. My plan requires both major party candidates to agree on a fundraising truce, return excess money from donors, and stay within the public financing system for the general election. My proposal followed announcements by some presidential candidates that they would forgo public financing so they could raise unlimited funds in the general election. The Federal Election Commission ruled the proposal legal, and Senator John McCain (r-AZ) has already pledged to accept this fundraising pledge. If I am the Democratic nominee, I will aggressively pursue an agreement with the Republican nominee to preserve a publicly financed general election.
- Mr. Burton added that if nominated Mr. Obama would “aggressively pursue an agreement” with whoever was his opponent.
Barack Obama’s Broken Promise:
- “Today, Barack Obama has revealed himself to be just another typical politician who will do and say whatever is most expedient for Barack Obama,” McCain campaign communications director Jill Hazelbaker said in a statement. “The true test of a candidate for president is whether he will stand on principle and keep his word to the American people. Barack Obama has failed that test today, and his reversal of his promise to participate in the public finance system undermines his call for a new type of politics.”
- Sen. Barack Obama did not do his integrity any favor by going back on his pledge to use public financing this fall in the final months of the campaign.
Now you know why his slogan is change.

Yeah and McCain promised not to run sleazeball ads, then proceeded to hire the same people that ran him into the ditch in 2000. Obama and McCain have both made cold political calculations: that it was better to break their promises than face the consequences of adhering to their word (in Obama’s case less money, less flexibility on ads for McCain).
And one could argue that when a HUGE proportion of your funding is from sources under $100 that Obama’s campaign is publicly financed already. Instead of the typical “Pioneers” of the Republican party, 10,000 strong or whatever…you have literally millions giving to Obama. You should be scared out of your mind.
And to pre-empt you: mentioning the people that have gotten credit-card scammed does not win you a point. The people that did that are dirtbags.

Please show us the pledge McCain signed.
Obama uses bundlers.
Also, he cannot account for $200 million.
I didn’t know he credit scammed people, but thanks.
If you win, enjoy winning on his fraudulent promise.

Signed, spoken…whatever. Both broke their word. Ink, blood, or hot air all come up to the same thing. Trying to paint Obama as the lone FAIL in this campaign’s Broken Promises Parade is hilarious. Old Flappy talked about how he wanted a civil campaign, none of the negativity he said was so beneath him. I guess in the end he found a pair of muckwaders after all.

Yeah you are working too hard pal.
I think it was Obama who started the crap with McCain “losing his bearings.”
Besides, I shouldn’t bother with this anyway. You guys never care that you elect liars.

The only reason you are upset with Obama not taking public funding is that he’s kicking the living crap out of McCain right now. $150,000,000 from 632,000 NEW (say it with me, new) donors. I guess the “Market” is deciding.

$200 Million unaccounted for…and it’s okay because he is your guy.
Nice try.

Nice try with the $200 million. I wonder how many other foreign agents McCain is soliciting for money today? If his campaign is that inept to solicit money in a 6 page letter to the Russian UN Ambassador then they need to pack it up now.
