Child Molester PSAs
Have you seen the various child molester PSAs?
How sad is it that we have come to point in our culture where we graduated from eggs being “your brain on drugs” to teachers practicing the big bang theory on their students?
There is one PSA in particular, it goes something like:
“When you became an eagle scout, your family was proud.
When you won the state championship, you were on top of the world…
But then, at 25, you got freaky with some children online and your life is ruined…”
You get the gist. I find that the need for these spots is almost comical, except for the fact that people out there are actually trying to this stuff all the time.
Here is a sign we can put at schools and parks, it’s fitting for these changing times…
Looks like the Dutch are already onto this idea…

I’ve always wondered if the increase in child molestation is a function of increased reporting, due to increased dissemination of information, or if it has actually increased due to a higher proportion of pedophiles in our society. Either way, it’s changed the way kids play and interact. There’s more parent refereed playtime, that actually is more detrimental to kids growth (ie. the parents sort out any problems rather than the kids hashing it out for themselves). It seems that the increase in child molestation reporting has increased the “playdate” (damn I hate that word). I miss the days of going over a buddies house and yelling up “Can Robbie come out to play” when I was a kid. Now I have parents calling over to the house to arrange something…I always tell them to just have their kid knock on my door and ask if my kid can go play. Sad.
