The Facts of American Left vs Right In Brief
The modern founder of the Democrat party is Andrew Jackson, who was well taken care of by his 150 slaves.
He gave us the Trail of Tears. The trail of tears was the culmination of several anti-Indian forms of legislation. All of this was because the power structure of the party wanted the lands that the Indian peoples inhabited.
He passed the “Indian Removal Act” in 1830. Georgia followed up with policies that forbid “whites” from living on Indian territory, which removed Andrew Jackson’s main opposition to this scheme, Christian missionaries.
Some missionaries were imprisoned, and the military was brought in by Jackson to forcibly remove the different peoples from their lands. Today we call this Eminent Domain.
Ironically, the Christian faith is given little credit in their struggle for the preservation of the various native peoples to remain on their lands. The name Jeremiah Evarts is rarely heard in public schools when students are taught about American civil rights.
The founder of the modern Republican Party is Abraham Lincoln.
The party platform existed as third party before Lincoln, but he was the first Republican President.
The platform was such: Besides opposition to slavery, the new party put forward a progressive vision of modernizing the United States—emphasizing higher education, banking, railroads, industry and cities, while promising free homesteads to farmers. They vigorously argued that free-market labor was superior to slavery and the very foundation of civic virtue and true American values.
He later issued the Emancipation Proclamation as an executive order during the Civil War.
This, and many other acts which destroyed the pro-slavery forces in America, lead one John Wilkes Booth to join a small cadre in conspiring to assassinate the President.
Democrats had Tammany Hall: This was a place where Democratic legislators would exploit the language and cultural barrier of immigrants to use against Republicans. Tammany hall is gone, but its practices are still in place today.
The Civil rights act of 1964 is the Democratic Party’s best piece of legislation. It won over black voters, who were then rewarded with the miserable failure of The War on Poverty.
Democrats engaged in the Bay of Pigs disaster, in which they could not work up the nerve to do what needed to be done. We were rewarded with the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Democrats started Vietnam, which spanned four Presidencies.
It ruined LBJ’s legacy and gave victory to Nixon. The Dems then brought Nixon to his knees with an overrated scandal and the evacuation of the war happened on Ford’s watch.
58,000+ US dead and nearly 2,000 MIA.
Democrats used nuclear weapons: While TRN agrees with the usage of the atomic weapons, the irony of liberals anti-nuke movement is that President Truman, a Democrat, is the only President to use nuclear weapons. Yet in so many elections the left uses this boogeyman as a reason to vote for them.
Republicans brought Welfare reform in 1996, almost thirty years after the failed War on Poverty.
In response, Democrats instigated the housing crisis, They gave us ARMs, they used the CRA, and then other investments were bet against these mortgages. Now they have rewarded their voters with foreclosures and bad credit.
They promise to reward us in 2009 with renewed War on Poverty.
