There is this piece of garbage lawyer trough act, also known as the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008.
This left wing Democrat legislation is established to provide lawyers and bureaucrats with more income, at our expense. There are many problems on the horizon with this turd, not the least of which, is the idea of “unsafe” books.
A quick search on Snopes infers that certain fears are unfounded:
- A CPSC announcement issued on 6 February 2009 regarding that agency’s enforcement policy also stated that they would not “impose penalties against anyone for making, importing, distributing, or selling” certain specified items, including any “ordinary children’s book printed after 1985.”
What happened to those hippies at Snopes? They bend over backwards to explain bad policy away these days.
Look, there should not be a discussion over this at all. In America, the specter of book banning should be the province of science fiction, overheated zealots, and totalitarian regimes.
The other problem, is that nobody but blogs will address the issues contained in such an overreach.
