Somebody Better Help This Kid

The L.A. Times had a heart breaking article on Jani Schofield and in it they had a video. The vid was screwed so I cruised the Intertoobs for an alternative version. I landed on a blog that pointed out some disconcerting things about these parents that the L.A. Times glossed over.

The layout of the Schofield blog as I see it is, a stressed out, self involved, highly verbose dad is writing a journal with copious amounts of info. Some of the stuff he writes is just out there. The mom chimes in in the comments and encourages him. There are a ton of red flags all over the place.

Now, having dealt with schizophrenics in my own life, I understand the stress this couple may be under. However, it is obvious they were and still are, not up to the task. I am not advocating the removal of this girl or that the parents be punished, but it is brutally obvious the parents and this girl need some serious outside help.

If the narrative pans out, and this girl hasn’t suffered unduly from any abuse, than there needs to be something done to not only help them, but other families in this situation, because right now it is a bad scene. The above comments about the dad might seem unfair, but they are accurate and could be a result of this guy just being in way over his head, which he seems to admit. That’s the rub really, you don’t want to see the state declaring them unfit, yet if this girl is truly ill, than her parents need some support.

I hate to cast any doubt on these two, but something isn’t passing the smell test. Hopefully, my darker suspicions are wrong and this family can get some assistance.

Pablo Pig, out.
